Thinking about setting up a coffee shop or coffee shop in your home but not sure where to start? This is the post for you! I’ve gathered all the best DIY coffee stations in a variety of design styles and sizes, so you can create them, whether you’re working with a small space or a large area. Plus, I share everything I recommend including in your space to make it the perfect balance of function and style.

What should be included in the coffee shop?

What you choose to include is someone who will depend on how much space you have. But here are the things that most coffee shops include:

Coffee essentials

  • Coffee maker (this is a coffee maker we have had for many years and love it)
  • Selection of ground or coffee beans
  • K-cup (if you use it)
  • Coffee factory
  • Coffee dispenser (can’t believe it took me so long to get one of these, awesome)
  • 6 to 8 cups of coffee or coffee cups
  • A few cups of travel coffee
  • Wisk handheld (I use this little thing every day to stir my collagen powder in my coffee)
  • Milk Froth (I only use it when I have plenty of time to enjoy my coffee, but it’s really good)
  • Containers for storing items such as sugar/sweeteners of choice, collagen powder, etc.

Optional coffee accessories

These items are completely optional and will depend on how much space you have, as well as what you like/care about!

  • Electric kettle
  • Tea options
  • Honey
  • Coffee syrup
  • Plants/herbs
  • Racks for cups
  • Tray
  • Maybe
  • Spoon
  • Coffee Art (scroll through some of my favorites below)
  • Cafeteria décor (scroll through some of my favorites below)

Now that you have an idea of what to put inside your home coffee station, let’s take a look at some amazing coffee shop ideas out there!

Use a rolling coffee cart in a small space

All you need is a rolling cart and a supply of your favorite coffee to create this functional and cute coffee station! Just place the cart near the outlet in the dining room, living room, or anywhere that makes sense to you!

If you don’t want to buy a roll-up cart, you can make your own DIY coffee cart out of copper and wood like Hey Wanderer did. Very stylish and functional.

If you’ve ever wondered “how to make a coffee shop cheap?”, this could be the perfect solution for you.  This clean and simple DIY rolled coffee cart costs less than $50 to make. Like the others above, you can literally put this anywhere in your home, as long as you’re near an outlet to plug in your coffee machine!

Use an old dressing table as a coffee station

I love coffee like most people, but my love of coffee is not the reason I set up a coffee area in the breakfast corner of our house (we just don’t need another table as we usually eat in our dark blue dining room  or on our kitchen island  ). The reality is that we have limited space on the kitchen counter and don’t want to cover a good section with our coffee maker and related stuff! We created this simple coffee shop using a used dresser that I painted. The dresser drawer contains our coffee filter, extra coffee, coffee cups and tea. And the top surface is perfect for our coffee makers, kettles and jars. From afar, you will never guess that this is a specialty coffee shop. It just looks like a living room!

You can visit my coffee station in the short video below.

Add racks

FOR

If you lack space, add some vertical storage. I love the look of this pegboard rack combo!

Turn cabinets into drink stations

Do you have an unused wardrobe? Turn the cabinets into  this DIY drink station by adding some stock cabinets and shelves. This is the perfect place to include a coffee shop. And I love that there’s a mini fridge included, it would be the perfect place to store your cream or half and a half!

Farm cafeteria

It’s not hard to find tons of farm coffee stations, but  this Bless’er House coffee shop is one of my favorites! He saved that beautiful piece of marble and made it change. He then added a rack of cheap IKEA plates on top to hold the coffee cups and some of the decorations.

Here’s another aspect of space-saving farming: it gets into a small corner! Smart use of space and I love cup racks!

Add a whiteboard

The duo behind Gray House Studio not only created this DIY coffee bar from scratch, but also created a whiteboard  framed in DIY. I love how the whiteboard makes this coffee area feel like a stylish retail coffee shop! This setting is in your breakfast corner, which is a great use of space.

Add a home coffee shop to your dining room

I love the idea of making a coffee corner in the dining room, especially if you often have guests and like to serve coffee after dinner. This vintage work makes a beautiful statement and is a perfectly functioning coffee station.

Use your kitchen table space

If you have space on your kitchen counter for a coffee station, use it of course!

While you’re at it, why not add interest to it with features like this DIY curved grooved accent wall ?  How beautiful is it?

I also love  this modern DIY coffee station. It’s part of her kitchen, but the incredible accent wall treatment sets it apart!

Deploy if you have enough space

If you have an entire spare wall, why not build an entire wall of DIY kitchen cabinets for less than $200 and add your coffee station  to the top? I love that it creates the perfect place for the coffee area, but it also adds plenty of storage for anything you might need!
